UCSF COVID-19 (coronavirus) researchers discuss the LIINC study.jpg

The Long-term Impact of Infection with Novel Coronavirus (LIINC) study is a collaboration of University of California researchers looking for adult volunteers who tested positive for COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). Our team is working to understand the changes that happen after recovery from the virus.

LIINC is a team effort that connects researchers across UCSF and the United States with the goal of understanding the immune response to the virus and how it affects a person's body during recovery.

What to Expect

If you are interested in participating in the study, you will first undergo a Phone Screen with a member of our study team. They will ask you information about the date and location of your COVID-19 test, the date that your symptoms began (such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhea), and the date that your symptoms went away.

If you are eligible, you will be invited to a Screening Visit at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. At that visit, you will meet with a member of the study team, review the consent and sign it if you wish to participate, and then immediately have your Baseline Visit.

The Baseline Visit will include completion of a detailed questionnaire, a blood draw, and a saliva collection.

After the first visit, you will be asked to be seen about 4 months after your symptoms started. Following that, you’ll be asked to come every 4 months to as many visits as you are able. Each visit will include a brief questionnaire and a blood test.

Will I Be Paid?

You will be paid $50 for completing the Baseline Visit and $25 for completing each follow-up visit.
